People Saying Stupid Things

Sen. Charles Schumer:

“If you walk down the street in New York … you can have the solace of knowing that if someone has a gun on them they’ve gone through a rigorous police background check. After this bill, you can have no such comfort,”

Um… OK sure.  This was about a bill in congress to make every state reciprocate conceal/carry permits for all states that have them.  I have lived in New York State, it’s almost impossible to get a conceal/carry permit there, hell it’s annoying just trying to buy a handgun legally,  you have to get a permit just to buy the gun, then getting a carry permit is well almost impossible and if you live in NYC it is impossible.  I know people in the US Military that couldn’t even get the permit to buy a handgun in the state of New York, yes they wouldn’t give US Military personnel stationed in the state a permit to buy a handgun or allow them to bring in the ones they already owned when they moved into the state under their military orders.

So let’s look at it this way, 95% of cops don’t conceal their guns, so there are very few cops with concealed weapons, and it is almost impossible to get a permit to carry in New York state for the average person, but remember if you don’t care about the law you can buy a gun off any street corner.  This means that you have the “solace” of knowing, that is someone has a gun on them not only did they not go ” through a rigorous police background check” but they are also either a career criminal or they are trying to become one.   So this statement should have gone something like this:

“If you walk down the street in New York … you can have the solace of knowing that if someone has a gun on them they are not only a criminal and since you can’t have a gun and you abide by the law you might as well kiss your ass goodbye because you’re fucked. After this bill that I will vote against, you can might have a chance, a chance I won’t let you have.”

Just so know know the bill in question was defeated  so you can all go back to hoping that the cops come in time to save you, they won’t, even if you have time to call 911, but most likely you won’t even have time to get your phone out before you’re on the ground.

  1. Not people… politicians. Politicians aren’t really people

  2. Well said, it’s the harsh reality, but that’s the way it is with gun control.

  3. I know politicians aren’t really people but legally they are, you can’t really take them to the vet and have them put down or anything.

Hmm.. perhaps that’s a change we can have slipped into the health care bill. It’s not like they read it.
